Course Spotlight: Legends-Heathland

Take a trip back in time to the origins of the game with a round at the Heathland Course at Legends Resort. Reminiscent of layouts typically associated with links courses, Heathland offers a challenge and a great time.

This par 71 layout designed by Tom Doak in the 1990s was one of the first links-style courses in the Myrtle Beach area. It exploded onto the golf scene after its opening and almost 30 years later tens of thousands of golfers continue to flock to the Heathland Course year after year.

Arguably the highlight of all the Legends courses, Heathland features strategic pot bunkers, subtle undulations from tee to green, and a minimal presence of water. The combination of all of these characteristics make for a little piece of Scotland right here in Myrtle Beach.

The relative absence of vegetation make for a difficult prevailing wind, and a thick rough adds to Heathland’s defense. However, expansive fairways allow for a certain degree of shakiness off the tee without the threat of excessive penalization.

Heathland has been rated as one of the “Top 10 New Resort Courses in the World” as well as one of “South Carolina’s Best Courses Near You,” both by GOLF Magazine. Unlike any other course in the Grand Strand, Heathland is sure to make for a memorable experience regardless of what you shoot.

A round at Heathland, or any of the other Legends Resort courses, comes with a complimentary breakfast, lunch and two beverages, making the Legends Stay & Play Package one of the most popular in Myrtle Beach.
